THE BEAN AND CORNBREAD COOK-OFF HAS BEEN POSTPONED DUE TO WEATHER!

Our Second Annual Bean and Cornbread Cook-Off is February 22nd (has been postponed due to weather) at 12Fox!

Registration will be on-site starting at 8am Feb 22nd and will be open until head cooks meeting!

Some Rules and Guidelines

GENERAL RULES & REGULATIONS

  • Set up/Check in time for competitors: 8:00 am
  • Head cook meeting: 10:30 am
  • Space Locations are on a first come, first serve basis.
  • This cook-off we are allowing you to cook on whatever you’d like, Electric, Charcoal, Open Fire!
  • Each team must have a head cook.
  • Head cooks must attend the Head Cook meeting to receive judging containers.
  • Bean and Cornbread ingredients will be inspected after the head cook’s meeting.
  • Teams must supply their own equipment, supplies and ingredients.
  • All grease drippings must be contained and disposed of properly.
  • Teams must supply their own water and tent canopies for shade.
  • Electricity will be available.
  • The Head Cook is responsible for all cleanup of the team’s space.
  • The Head Cook is responsible for the conduct of their team and their guests.
  • The Cook-off Club officers reserve the right to make additional regulations as situations warrant.
  • Decisions of the officers shall be final.
  • Excessive use of alcoholic beverages will be grounds for disqualification.
  • All rules will be enforced and refusal to abide by them will results in immediate disqualification and eviction from the grounds with no refund of fees paid.

BEAN COOK-OFF AND CORNBREAD CONTEST RULES

  • Entry Fees: $25 for Beans and $15 for Cornbread.
  • Turn in times: 12:30 for Cornbread and 1:30 for Beans
  • Only dried pinto beans may be used in this cook-off
  • Pre-soaking of pinto beans IS allowed
  • NO pre-seasoning of pinto beans allowed prior to the event
  • NO commercial seasoning mixes or canned beans allowed
  • Any additions (meat, vegetables, etc.) to the pinto beans may NOT be more than twice the size of the beans themselves
  • Pinto beans will be judged on aroma, appearance, and taste
  • Pinto beans will be presented in 20 oz. cup
  • All corn bread must be made from base ingredients – corn meal, flour, eggs, etc.
  • NO corn bread mixes of any type allowed
  • Supplemental items may be included in the corn bread, such as peppers, onions, corn, honey, etc.
  • NO topping of any type may be added to the corn bread after it is cooked
  • Corn bread may be prepared as muffins or in pan
  • Corn bread may be cooked in any manner available at the event
  • Corn bread presented for judging shall be half-muffins or 1 ½ inch squares if pan prepared

Registration onsite starting at 8am!

$25 Entry Fee for Beans
$15 Entry Fee for Cornbread
